Asana Kids began as a small seed in the back of founder Kristin Jackson's mind. Kristin decided to cultivate that seed when she found that doing yoga with her preschool class helped ground and center even her most "bumblebee"-like students. Through the host school of Newport Martial Arts, classes were created for students ages 3 to 11. Asana Kids blends a mixture of classic yoga poses, kid friendly yoga poses, dance and creative movement, art, and partner work. Rest assured, Asana Kids has a little bit of everything to engage even the most fickle of children.
We work with a variety of ages in this program, covering many topics and life skills, such as:
- Improving focus and concentration
- Felxibility and strength building
- A sense of community while strengthening independence
- Stress reduction and a sense of inner calm
- Self-esteem and coping skills
Instructors:
Getting Started - We always recommend your first step be a visit to the facility. Please bring your child and try to visit during a time period when the appropriate age class is in action. No appointment is necessary. This gives you and your child an opportunity to see the facilities, meet the staff, and watch a class in action. After that, children are welcome to join the class. Nothing more is needed but comfy clothes and a smile!
Ms. Jackson has worked with children for the majority of her life, starting out as a "professional" babysitter, and currently working as a preschool teacher. Yoga is her passion, and loves being able to share this with the people around her!
